If the app is stopping when your phone's screen goes dark, turns off, goes to sleep, or is backgrounded, it is likely an Android level setting which is designed to save battery life.

In order to find and turn this setting off, please follow the steps below:

For Android versions 14 and up:

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. Select Apps
  3. Select See all apps
  4. Choose iHeartRadio app
  5. Select App Battery Usage
  6. Select Allow background usage
  7. Set to Unrestricted or Optimized

For Android versions 9 through 13:

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. Select Apps
  3. Select See all apps
  4. Choose iHeartRadio app
  5. Select Battery
  6. Set to Unrestricted or Optimized

 

If that doesn't work or is already set to Unrestricted or Optimized, please try the following steps:

  1. Open your device's Settings app
  2. Select Battery
  3. Select Battery Saver
  4. For “Use Battery Saver”, turn the switch to the OFF position

If your device is running Android 8 and below:

  1. Select the Search settings text field
  2. Search for “Battery optimization”
  3. Select the result, “Battery optimization”
  4. Select the dropdown menu and choose All apps
  5. Select iHeartRadio
  6. Set to Optimize
